Project At A Glance
Project Overview
Work for the project involved a complete demolition of the existing linerar accelerator space back to the concrete including concrete base removal and prep for the new accelerator. Engelberth Construction utilized a fast track construction process for this project to minimize the down time for the Hospital. Crews worked twenty four hours a day, seven days a week for twelve consecutive days to get the new base frame installed along with all new finishes in preparation for Varian’s equipment delivery.
Considerable planning, scheduling and the evaluation of various options were key to this highly successful project that was finished in record time. Detailed scheduling of this time sensitive project was done in hour long segments in order to keep the work running smoothly and according to plan. To the surprise of many, the project was completed on time and under budget.
The newly renovated room includes cabinet space that lines the walls and a ceiling that mimics a sky view with tree tops to create a more relaxing atmosphere. The room is also mic’d and has cameras in case of an emergency. Radiologists constantly monitor their unattended patients during treatment from the control room. This new technology improves treatment by allowing radiation to hit the tumor directly without affecting normal tissue and reduces treatment time significantly.
