Kendal at HanoverGathering Room Renovations, Wellness/Fitness Center Addition

Project Overview

Familiar with the Kendal residents and staff, as well as local town officials, Engelberth Construction felt at home while working on the renovations to the Gathering Room, and a new addition for the Wellness/Fitness Center at Kendal at Hanover’s continuing care retirement community campus.

At a time when wellness and fitness have never been more important, the goal of the design of the new spaces was to enhance the lifestyles of the residents. The Gathering Room, one of the most frequently used event spaces, entailed approximately 30,000 sf of renovations with a bumped out ceiling, new flooring and finishes and a moveable wall partition which will allow for a greater variety of programs. The community also can enjoy a new game room as well as have access to a new 3-stop elevator.

The Wellness Center’s 4,300 sf addition with heavy timber beam trusses, created expanded, flexible space for exercise equipment and aerobic classes, massage rooms and updated changing/locker rooms.

Other work included during this first phase in the master plan included a new chiller, expansion to the propane plant, and a new egress sidewalk with retaining wall.
