Concord HospitalInterventional Radiology Suite Renovation
Project At A Glance
Project Overview
Engelberth Construction was hired to reconfigure a portion of Concord Hospital’s Interventional Radiology Department. The project entailed three procedure rooms located on the first floor, renovated in three phases. The newly renovated rooms and equipment updates maximize efficiencies and provide technical support to the growing specialty services and procedures conducted within Concord Hospital’s Radiology suite.
Phase 1 – Renovate X-Ray Room 2 into Class 1 Fluoroscopy Room
The scope of work included rebuilding a small control room, reworking the finishes, and replacement of the existing X-RAY equipment.
Phase 2 – Renovate X-Ray Room 1 into Class 2 Imaging Room
The scope of work included demo of the existing toilet, control rooms, and GE equipment. New work included new ceiling, repair of existing shielded walls, built in storage, a nurse work area, and installation of a tandem boom.
Phase 3 – Renovate existing Class 2 Imaging Room into Class 3 Imaging Room
The scope of work included demo of the existing imaging room, control room, and equipment room, bringing it essentially to a shell, with nearly all existing walls, ductwork, electrical, etc removed. New work included installation of a state-of-the-art Siemens Artis Q ceiling mounted angiography system with Skytron boom fixtures for access to medical gasses, electrical power and audio visual. Work also included rebuilding the control room, a new scrub / ante room, and new equipment room. As part of the renovation, a semi-restricted corridor was created outside the procedure room.
During each of the phases, it was essential to ensure that Infection Control Risk Assessments and Interim Life Safety Measurements were in strict compliance to keep the radiology suite operating safely. Engelberth coordinated daily with the hospital’s staff in scheduling shut-downs and providing construction activity updates as to minimize the disturbance of patients, staff and the physician’s sleeping rooms and break rooms on the level below.
