More than 300 people attended the open house and celebration of the Perry Hall Visitor Center at Champlain College. The project blended the old with the new into a state of the art facility to serve prospective and current students. The $12 million project restored and expanded the circa 1859 brick home located in Burlington’s Historic Hill Section into a new admissions “Welcome Center”, and home to admissions, financial aid, registration, student accounts and advising, and international studies. The project consisted of renovating and preserving 11,600 sf and constructing a 14,400 sf addition. In the original building, historic detail work, an open staircase and ground room floors were all preserved and restored. The new space consists of offices, restrooms, presentation and conference space and elevators. The facility incorporates energy efficient lighting and climate control systems, including a geothermal pump from Perry Hall’s deep water wells. The facility is looking to achieve Platinum LEED Certification, the highest level of certification from the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. The project was designed by Goody Clancy & Associates.
