With an average of 120 workers on site daily for fifteen weeks, the $8.2 million renovation of Forest Hall was anything but ordinary. Completed on a fast track summer schedule to ensure accommodations for incoming students, crews worked 10 – 12 hour days, six days a week. During the renovation, the entire mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems were upgraded. Windows throughout the 61,294 sf building were replaced and a new elevator shaft was constructed. Within the existing footprint, nine new single student rooms, one double and a new lounge and kitchen were created for student gatherings. All 130 of the existing student rooms underwent extensive renovations including new flooring, doors and frames, paint and built in wardrobe dressers.
On the outside of the building crews constructed a new chiller courtyard, installed two new electrical transformers and spruced up the entrances to the building.
The successful and timely completion of this project is a true testament to the benefits of detailed preconstruction planning, and a hard working dedicated team. Thank you to our employees and numerous subcontractors and suppliers and to the project’s engineers and the designer, Smith Alvarez Sienkiewycz Architects.
