The recent completion of the State of Vermont’s new 30,000 sf Forensic Laboratory allows the State to maintain its required federal accreditation status and provides the latest technology in forensic analysis. Completed by Engelberth Construction, the new two story facility includes some construction and materials unique to this building type, including plastic laminate wood cabinets, plastic fabrications, glass fiber reinforced framing, laboratory equipment, biological safety cabinets, firing range equipment, bullet resistant fiberglass and an electric traction elevator. Extensive plumbing and HVAC systems were also part of the project including solar panels. Lab gas, lab waste, a storm water system, chilled beams, radiant heating and snow melt system. The building was designed by CUH2A of Lawrenceville, New Jersey with help from Efficiency Vermont to create a “high efficiency” facility.
