This is the season for giving thanks for family, friends, a roof over our heads, food on the table, etc., yet not everyone is so lucky and this economy hasn’t helped matters. That’s why on Thursday, November 11th, an article ran in the Burlington Free Press in the B Section titled “Charities make call for help” which included the Burlington Food Shelf’s need for Thanksgiving turkeys – over 2,700 of them of which only 4 or 5 were in hand. In response to this plea, a few Engelberth employees started a Thanksgiving fund drive for the food shelf. Within a weeks time enough funds were contributed by Engelberth employees to donate the following items:
- 14 Turkeys
- 14 boxes of stuffing
- 14 boxes of mashed potatoes
- 14 packets of gravy
- 10 bottles of assorted juices
- 10 cans green beans
- 10 cans corn
- 10 cans carrots
- 10 cans peas
- 6 cans cream of mushroom soup
- 6 boxes of Jiffy pie crust mix
- 4 cans of French Fried Onions
- 3 cans of olives
- 3 cans of fruit cocktail
- 3 boxes of chocolate pudding mix
- 3 boxes of quick bread mix
- 2 cans of apple pie filling
- AND… A partridge in a pear tree!
The folks at the food shelf were very grateful and thanked Engelberth for their generous donation!! A HUGE thank you to all of the employees who were able to help with this worthy cause!!
