APD Hosts Community Open House of New Wing
July 13, 2012— As Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital nears the completion of its new inpatient wing, the community is invited to get a sneak peek during a special Open House event to be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 15 in Lebanon.
The new Donald Faulkner Dickey Medical—Surgical Wing is the first phase of a $17.3 million hospital renovation and expansion project. The event will include tours of the new wing, which will open to patients in August. The wing includes 15 private and two semi-private patient rooms, a palliative care family suite, an inpatient rehabilitation gym, nursing stations and patient observation areas.
“While we have upgraded several areas of the hospital over the years including the operating rooms, birthing center, and emergency room, our 47 year old building has never seen a renovation of this magnitude,” states Harry G. Dorman, III, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer. “This is a transformative renovation. It will turn existing space into a state-of-the-art healthcare facility that is inviting, comforting and healing for patients and their families.”
“The Open House event is also an opportunity for APD to thank the people who have helped to fund the renovation thus far,” adds Dorman, “and to generate interest within the community about our building project.”
Lavallee Brensinger Architects of Manchester, NH and Engelberth Construction, Inc., headquartered in Colchester, VT, have teamed together to plan and build what could be northern New England’s first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified hospital. The renovated space features energy efficient heating and cooling systems, earth-friendly construction materials, thermo-efficient roofing materials and natural solar lighting.
The new patient rooms will include a family area, private bathrooms and showers, and will be equipped with the latest technology for the staff to provide more efficient, modern healthcare at the bedside.
